DME Media School proudly inaugurated the 8th edition of its renowned convention-cum festival, Vritika, on November 3rd, 2023, in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium. The festival, themed “Media Maestro with #YouthFest,” kicked off with a grand ceremony attended by esteemed journalists and industry experts.

Veteran journalists, Mr Rohit Upadhyay and Ms Sreemoyee Piu Kundu, graced the occasion as chief guests and inaugurated Vritika 2023. Mr Upadhyay, a Journalist & Youtuber, emphasised the evolving landscape of journalism, urging the audience to safeguard honesty and commitment to facts. He highlighted the responsibility of journalists in providing authentic information and bridging the gap between authorities and the common people.

Ms Sreemoyee Piu Kundu, an Author and Journalist, reflected on her journey in journalism and emphasised the enduring spirit of journalists. She shared insights into the changing dynamics of the profession, emphasising the need for integrity amidst the pursuit of celebrity interactions in the fast-paced world.

Future of Media

Prof (Dr) Ambrish Saxena, Dean, DME Media School, conveyed the seven year long journey of Vritika, emphasising its role in providing an engaging platform for students. Prof (Dr) Susmita Bala, Head, DME Media School, the festival for encouraging creativity and empowering students to contribute meaningfully to society.

Following the inaugural session, Vritika 2023 unfolded a day filled with competitions and workshops. Ms Shreemoye conducted an illuminating workshop, focusing on various media strategies and the nature of Public Relations (PR) work.

The day’s events included the Media Debate, Sustainable Art, RJ Hunt, Meme War, and Open Mic competitions. Eminent personalities, including Mr Rohit Upadhyay, Mr Anshul Tyagi, Ms Ritika Bora, RJ Sapna, and Dr Yamini Khullar served as judges, evaluating the participants’ skills and creativity.

Vritika 2023 witnessed an overwhelming response this year, with active participation from students representing 50 colleges across Delhi NCR. The event drew students from prestigious institutions such as Delhi University, IP University, as well as various private and government colleges. The enthusiastic participation of these students added a vibrant energy to the festival, creating an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie.

Each participant was thrilled to be a part of this grand event, showcasing their talents and skills while engaging in a spirit of healthy competition and collaboration. Vritika 2023 truly became a melting pot of creativity, fostering connections and friendships among students from diverse educational backgrounds.
