OpenAI Set to Launch ‘Strawberry’: A New Reasoning-Focused AI for ChatGPT

OpenAI

OpenAI is preparing to launch a new AI model called “Strawberry” for its ChatGPT service within the next two weeks, according to a report by The Information. This new model focuses heavily on reasoning, making it stand out from other AI by “thinking” through responses before answering. Two individuals who have tested it shared this information, highlighting its potential to elevate conversational AI.

Led by Sam Altman, OpenAI has been driving significant interest in AI technology, leading to heavy investments as businesses look to leverage AI in their products. OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, recently reported having over 1 million paying users, thanks in part to the advanced capabilities of its chatbot powered by large language models.

Strawberry is said to be a separate offering under ChatGPT, though it’s unclear exactly how it will be introduced. Unlike some recent AI models, Strawberry will focus purely on text, without the ability to handle images, meaning it’s not multimodal at this stage.

This launch follows earlier reports in July that revealed OpenAI’s development of Strawberry, which uses a new approach to improve the AI’s reasoning capabilities.
