On Monday, Apple CEO Tim Cook kicked off the ‘It’s Glowtime’ event with the highly anticipated announcement of the Apple Watch Series 10. Featuring a larger display than the Watch Ultra and a thinner design than the Watch Series 9, the new Apple Watch promises a range of innovative features designed to enhance both functionality and user experience.
Bigger, Thinner, and Lighter: Apple Watch Series 10 Design
One of the standout features of the Apple Watch Series 10 is its new Polished Titanium finish, which not only gives the watch a sleek appearance but also makes it lighter. Apple highlighted that this new design makes the Series 10 the thinnest Apple Watch ever.
According to Tim Cook, “Artificial intelligence and machine learning have been essential in delivering many of the features we love today.” Cook also emphasized the impact of Apple Intelligence, which was introduced in June, and how it plays a critical role in enhancing the capabilities of the new Apple devices.
Brighter Display for Better Visibility
A key improvement in the Apple Watch Series 10 is its display. Apple has made the display up to 40% brighter when viewed from an angle, making it easier to read with a quick glance, especially when your hands are occupied. The wide-angle OLED display is designed to be extremely power-efficient, allowing the display to update every second in Always On mode, compared to once a minute in previous models.
Health Features: Sleep Apnea Detection
One of the major advancements in the Apple Watch Series 10 is its ability to detect sleep apnea, a condition that affects over a billion people globally. Using the accelerometer to track a new metric called breathing disturbances during sleep, the watch will analyze the data and notify users if consistent signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea are detected.
As Dr. Sumbul Ahmed Desai explained, users can view their breathing disturbance values in the Health app, offering insights into the quality of their sleep every 30 days.
Fastest Charging Apple Watch Yet
Apple claims that the Series 10 is the company’s fastest charging Apple Watch ever, able to charge up to 80% in just 30 minutes. This quick charge feature ensures that users can keep up with their busy schedules without worrying about downtime for their device.
