In the INS Media case, the Supreme Court granted relief to P Chidambaram and granted bail. However, Chidambaram will still have to stay in jail for 2 more days. Because Chidambaram is in custody till October 24 in the ED case.

The Supreme Court said that P. Chidambaram should be released on bail if there is no need in any other case. The Supreme Court said that P. Chidambaram cannot go out of the country without getting permission from the court.

Explain that the CBI had filed an FIR on May 15, 2017, alleging alleged irregularities in a Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to INX Media Group for receiving foreign funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007.

After which the ED had filed a money laundering case in this regard in 2017. The 74-year-old senior Congress leader challenged the High Court’s September 30 verdict in the apex court. The High Court had rejected his bail application in the INX Media corruption case lodged by the CBI.

Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI on August 21 in a corruption case. A charge sheet was filed against them for allegedly damaging the treasury by committing crimes punishable under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code.
